Position title
Scrum Master (French speaker)
Description

The Scrum Master supports the Squad in adopting and continuously improving Agile ways of working, in accordance with Agile values, principles, practices, and tools. The role promotes effective collaboration, team autonomy, and sustainable delivery while helping the team identify and remove impediments, manage risks and dependencies, and continuously improve its performance.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the Squad operates effectively within an Agile framework and understands Agile values and principles, while encouraging self-organization, autonomy, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Plan, facilitate, and continuously improve Agile ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Review/Demo, and Retrospectives.
  • Foster a transparent, collaborative, and focused working environment while protecting the team from unnecessary external pressure and unplanned workload during the Sprint.
  • Facilitate constructive discussions, support decision-making, and help the team manage and resolve conflicts or interpersonal challenges.
  • Partner closely with the Product Owner to ensure the Product Backlog remains clear, prioritized, and ready for upcoming Sprints, while balancing customer value, delivery improvements, team capacity, and business priorities.
  • Collaborate with the Product Owner and Squad to establish clear Sprint Goals, support effective Sprint execution, and maintain visibility of delivery progress through relevant indicators and reporting.
  • Identify and facilitate the resolution of impediments, operational constraints, dependencies, and delivery risks, escalating issues when their resolution requires support beyond the Squad.
  • Define, monitor, and communicate relevant delivery metrics to support fact-based discussions, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive the team’s continuous-improvement activities by ensuring that actions identified during Retrospectives are specific, assigned to owners, and followed through to completion.
  • Collaborate with other Scrum Masters and relevant Tribe roles to coordinate cross-Squad dependencies, synchronize activities, and develop appropriate action plans.
  • Act as a change agent by promoting effective Agile practices, encouraging new ways of working, contributing to communities of practice, and strengthening communication within the Squad and across stakeholders.
  • Organize and facilitate delivery and project portfolio reviews when required by local governance.
  • Support additional coordination and operational activities related to the Mainframe application environment, based on team requirements and agreed priorities.

Key interactions:

  • Product Owner: Collaborate on backlog readiness, Sprint objectives, prioritization, business value, and delivery flow.
  • Squad Members: Support daily collaboration, Agile practices, impediment resolution, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Other Scrum Masters / Tribe Roles: Coordinate dependencies, synchronize delivery activities, and share effective Agile practices.
  • Agile Coach / Community of Practice: Contribute to the development of the Agile mindset, facilitation techniques, methodologies, and tools.
  • Business Stakeholders, Architects, and Other Squads: Ensure transparent communication, alignment, and effective management of cross-team interfaces.
Qualifications
  • Min. 3 years of proven experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar Agile delivery role within an IT environment.
  • Strong practical understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies, including ceremonies, roles, artefacts, and continuous-improvement practices.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to lead meetings, workshops, Agile ceremonies, and training sessions for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Good understanding of software development and testing processes; knowledge of Mainframe environments is required for this role.
  • Experience with backlog management, Sprint planning, delivery tracking, impediment resolution, risk management, and dependency coordination.
  • Ability to define and leverage meaningful delivery metrics while maintaining a facilitative, team-oriented approach rather than a command-and-control management style.
  • Fluent French, required for communication with business stakeholders, architects, and other Squads; good professional command of English.
  • Agile/Scrum certification is considered an advantage.
